Frequently Asked Questions
What is PLA?
PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament is the overachieving nerd of the 3D printing world. Made from corn starch and sugarcane, it's the eco-friendly choice and biodegradable under industrial composting conditions. PLA is strong enough to handle everyday use and won’t bend like your cheap sunglasses.
Is your top coat safe?
Our wood and acrylic products are coated with a water-based, non-toxic food-grade top coat because we care about the details. It’s packed with high solids, UV stabilization, and less than 1% VOC per gallon. It’s so eco-friendly it might start growing its own garden! And don’t worry about it turning yellow over time; this stuff stays crystal clear, unlike your grandma’s old plastic tablecloth.
Can I order a custom color or size?
Absolutely! Shoot us an email at info@pickledgrits.com and we’ll schedule a time to chat. Custom orders are all about you, and we want to nail it.
Where can I find your refund, shipping, and privacy policies?
You’ll find links to each of them hanging out at the bottom of our website, just chilling like the VIPs they are.
Product Care and Instructions
3D Prints, Badge Reels/Buddies, Glitter Pens, Beaded Pens, Clips, and Keychains:
Wipe It Down- A little warm water and a damp cloth should do the trick. If it looks like it’s been through a mud fight, use some dish soap—but nothing fancy. Save the additives for your coffee.
Bead TLC- Your beads deserve the best. Keep your beads shiny with a non-tarnish jewelry cloth. They like being pampered, not punished.
Water Rules- Dry immediately. No soaking allowed. It’s not a water park. A quick clean is fine, but don’t let it linger in water like it’s on vacation.
Temperature Drama- Extreme temperatures? Leave that to the weather. Our products don't do well in a sauna or a freezer. Keep it comfy.
Chemical Warfare- Harsh chemicals are a big no-no. No acetone, bleach, ammonia, or rubbing alcohol—this isn’t a lab experiment. Stick to mild cleaners.
Gentle Touch- Handle with care. Avoid throwing, dropping, or applying too much pressure. Think gentle hugs, not wrestling moves.
Woodworks:
Our 16in and 12in signs can go outside or stay in, but the rest are strictly indoor party animals.
Cleaning 101- Grab a warm, damp cloth and give it a gentle wipe. If it’s seen better days, use dish soap—nothing fancy, no extra additives. And for the love of all that’s clean, dry it immediately. It’s not the sponge’s day off.
Top Coat TLC- The top coat is on a 30-day quest to reach full cure. Think of it like aging wine. It’s fine to give it time, just don’t rush the process or poke it with a stick.
Wood Grinders- Treat them with food-grade oil like they’re getting a fancy spa treatment. Lightly coat the inside to prevent herbs from clinging on. No, not motor oil—look for cutting board or charcuterie board oils.
Water Woes- No soaking or leaving it in water. It’s not a bath toy. A quick clean is enough.
Temperature Extremes- Don’t leave in extreme temperatures. It’s not training for a polar expedition or a desert marathon.
Harsh Chemicals- Keep those solvents away. Acetone, rubbing alcohol, ammonia, bleach—nope. Stick to mild cleaners. You don’t want to experience a chemical apocalypse.
Handling- Handle with care. No throwing, dropping, or heavy-handed treatment. Think of it as a delicate piece of art.
Vinyl Decals:
Surface Selection: Seriously, don’t even think about slapping vinyl on paint. Paint is not vinyl’s BFF. Stick to windows and glass—they’re much more accommodating.
Prep Like a Boss: Use the alcohol wipes provided to clean the surface. Let it dry—don’t rush it or your vinyl will be as stubborn as a cat in a bath.
Peel and Stick: Peel the backing like you’re peeling a banana—smoothly. Make sure the vinyl clings to the clear transfer tape.
Decal Placement: Align and press the decal onto the surface with the precision of a surgeon. No wiggling or re-adjusting—this is a one-shot deal.
Smooth It Out: Grab a credit card and smooth the decal from the center outwards, like you’re spreading butter on toast. Push those pesky air bubbles to the edges.
Transfer Tape Drama: Remove the transfer tape slowly, starting from a corner. Don’t yank it off like it’s a sticker from your last high school notebook. Patience is a virtue here.
Let it chill: Allow 24 hours to cure before any rain showers or car washes.
Decal Removal: When it's time to say goodbye, peel the decal off from the corner. If it’s clinging like a bad ex, you can use some adhesive remover. We want a clean break—no drama.
